Chemmeen Pollichattu / Prawn Masala in Banana Leaf




Ingredients:

Chemmen/Prawn  - 1 cup 
Salt-to taste 
Red Chili powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder powder - 1/2 tsp
Black Pepper powder powder - 1/2 tsp
Ginger/Garlic paste - 1 tbsp



For the Masala:

 Onion / shallots Sliced - 1 1/2 cups
 Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
 Tomatoes chopped - no
 Green chili -  nos
 Ginger/Garlic crushed - 1 tsp
Kashmir Red Chili powder - 1/2 tsp 
 Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
 Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Vinegar/Lemon - 1/2 tsp
 Coconut Crushed - 1 tbsp
 Banana leaves 


Method of Preparation:


1. Marinate the prawns with salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder,curry leaves  and garlic paste for at least 30 minutes.



2. Heat oil in a pan tip in the marinated prawns.Cook on high heat till the prawns are done.



3.Saute till the Onion  turn slightly brown then add tomatoes along with chilli, pepper and turmeric powders and fry for a minute.



4.Add  the  crushed coconut and mix well.



5.Add the fried prawn in to the masala  and then mix with low falme.



6. Sprinkle the coconut oil and  add a few curry leaves in to the masala.
7.Apply a bit of oil on the centre of the leaf.
8.Put a bit of masala mixture and place a few of the fried prawns over the masala.



9.Now fold the banana leaf to form a parcel.



10. Take a pan and apply a bit of oil place the parcel and cook on  low heat for 5 minutes until the banana leaf turns almost brown on every sides. 







                  Serve with rice or Appam 😋😋😋👌
