Vellarikka Pulissery / Vellarikka Moru Curry Recipe

Vellarikka Pulissey / Vellarikka Moru Curry Recipe:



Serves: 4-5


Ingredients:

Vellarikka (golden cucumber) - 250 gms (cut into small cube size pieces)
Curd - 1/2 cup(thick)
Green chili - 3 nos (cut lengthwise)
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Cumin (jeera) - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Shallots - 3 nos (Chopped)
Dry red chili - 2 nos
Salt to taste
Coconut Oil - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - Plenty



Method of Preparation:

1.Beat the curd and salt keep it aside.



2. Grind together coconut and cumin with cup water to a smooth paste. Add ground coconut to buttermilk or whisked yogurt and mix well.




3. Peel the  vellarikka and cut into bite size pieces. Cook together vellarikka, green chilli, turmeric powder with salt and 1/2 cup water. Cook till the vellarikka becomes tender and water is almost dried.






4.  Add coconut yogurt mixture to cooked vellarikka and mix well. Stir continuously and  Dont let it boil. 



5. Heat oil in a pan  and add  mustard , dried red chili, shallots and curry leaves. Fry till the onion turns golden brown.



6. Add this to the vellarikka moru curry and mix well.





                  Serve hot with rice....)))
