Ela ada / Valsan (Chakka Ada) Traditional Kerala Recipe

Ela ada /Valsan (Chakka Ada) Traditional Kerala Breakfast and Snack Recipe



Ingredients:

Rice flour  /Wheat flour - 1 cup (Roasted) (I used wheat flour)
Hot water - As required
Salt to taste

For Filling

Jack fruit-2 cups(Finely chopped)
Grated Coconut - 1 cup
Grated Jaggery : 1/2 cup
Cardamon powder : 1/4 tsp




Method of Preparation:

1.Take a bowl add  wheat flour along with sugar and salt mix well and add enough water to
  Make a dough (like chappathi dough,not too watery)




2.For filling , Mix  Jack fruit,coconut, jaggery,cardamom powder with your hands very well until well combined and soft.



3. Place lemon size dough in the center of the leaf, flatten it with finger and spread the filling on it.
 and spread it a circular motion  Fold the leaf in half.








4. Place the adas in a idly cooker and steam it for 10 minutes.





                Ela Ada is ready to serve And Enjoy!!!
